WELL Building Standard
The WELL Building Standard® is an evidence-based system for measuring, certifying and monitoring the performance of building features that impact health and well-being.
As opposed to LEED, which is focused on the building, WELL focuses on healthy workspaces and people, and focuses on seven concepts: Air, Water, Nourishment, Light, Fitness, Comfort and Mind.
Flooring is not a specific component of the WELL Building Standard ®, however GH Commercial's sustainable philosophies and product designs complement several areas within the seven concepts identified in the standard.
GH Commercial’s commitment to product transparency and material health is well aligned with the philosophy of the Well Building Standard® and its seven concepts.

Air
04 VOC Reduction
Intent: To minimize the effect of VOCs in building materials on indoor air quality.
GH Commercial carpets meet the Carpet Institute of Australia (CIA) environmental code of practice for carpet manufacturing and indoor air quality standards for low VOC emissions. With GH Commercial, you get maximum points on any GBCA building materials calculator.
Our FlexLok glueless installation system for carpet tiles provides an odorless option to virtually eliminate VOC emissions.
Through the Declare program, all our certified products are tested against the stringent California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Standard Method v1.1-2010.
08 Healthy Entrance
Intent: To minimize the introduction of pollutants into indoor air at building entrances.
With Tuff-Stuff, GH Commercial provides easy to install walk-off options for use in all public space entries. Our mats line up flush and level with all GH Commercial Carpet tiles.
Proper use of walk-off mats aids in the reduction of particulates.
11 Fundamental Material Safety
Intent: To reduce or eliminate occupant exposure to lead, asbestos, and PCBs from building materials.
Our focus on safe and healthy ingredients is a never-ending journey. We actively list, screen, assess and optimise our list of ingredients across our product portfolio as we move forward to bring innovative and sustainable flooring solutions to market.

88 Biophilia – Qualitative
Intent: To nurture the innate human-nature connection within the project.
GH Commercial’s products are designed with biophilia in mind. Many of our flooring products purposefully replicate the colours, textures, and patterns found in the natural landscape.
- - Inspired by biophilic design and its namesake, the Lichen Collection is truly designed to help us connect to nature. Lichen can be found in every colour of the rainbow and grows in nearly every ecosystem on earth, thriving on bark, leaves, soil and rock. You might even call it 'nature’s carpet'.
- - Nutopia explores natural effects in urban settings for a new take on biophilic patterns. We’ve traditionally looked to nature, rural environments and the countryside for biophilic inspiration, but Nutopia was inspired by the natural weathering that occurs on buildings and streets with the passage of time. The result includes several extraordinary carpet plank styles that can be used individually or specified as a cohesive system.
